2004 VW Touareg anti-theft system shut down car completely, How do I reboot?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was having trouble out of my key fob.  I decided to take it to get it synced
back up with the car.  However, the anti-theft system kicked in......alarm
going off for about 5 minutes.  Tried to put key in the ignition to end the alarm
and the vehicle locked the key in the ignition.  Now I have no power
anywhere in the vehicle.  It's as if I took the battery out-----no lights, no noise,
no clicks.  Surely there must be a simple solution to this problem.  I know
there are other owners who have accidently tripped the anti-theft system and
been shut out like me.  What should I do?  Any suggestions are welcome.

First you have to determine what killed you battery, then you need a jump to get your key out of the ignition (Some cars will lock the key in the ignition if battery is dead) If you don't have an OBD than I would remove the red wire from the battery for about a minute to reset the cars computer .. you may get back to"square one" and be able to start your car (with a jump of course0

Thanks! I installed a new battery about 2 months ago. The battery was fine yesterday. When I went to get in the vehicle to do some errands, the alarm went off and locked everything. After the alrm got finished blaring, the key was stuck in the ignition with 0 power. Im going to try and disconnect the battery totally and see if it reboots. Thanks!
