I have a 1993 VW Eurovan and can't get the swing-up middle table to lift up - is there a secret?

I would check some of the Eurovan forums, there are quite a few available through Google. This is a rather low-production vehicle that I am not familiar with.

i have the same problem. i have tried pushing in on the table hopping that the "catch" latch will release. I can not figure it out!
