Thermostat Where is it?

I have an issue with a what I believe is a non functioning thermostat. The only problem is that there is no clear spot as to where it is located. I haven't found a single picture or description on-line that shows or tells how to remove it. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you exactly, but a rule of thumb is follow the top hose off the radiator, find where an aluminum housing bolts to the motor. Its right behind that.

i have a golf mk4 2003 se tdi pd, there's a problem with engine heating, when the blower is on the 2nd setting i lose engine temperature,also the car takes along time to warm up, any ideas please. many thanks phil 1 answer

heater plugs, thermostat with full service just done, warm up time in 4 degrees is 25 minutes or 8 miles
