My 1991 tercel overheats when troubleshooting Cooling fan does not engage & water does not look to be circulating when running with cap off (Bad water pump)

If the over heating only happens when in traffic or idling and it runs cooler at highway speeds I would look into why the fan is not coming on. Either fan motor or relay are things to check. (Need to look into this no matter what cause it should be coming on at idle) Water not moving could be a water pump or thermostat issue. Stuck thermostat will cause to over heat also. Hope this helps
