Asked by GuruZ1JK Mar 24, 2017 at 08:12 PM about the 2003 Toyota RAV4 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Rav 4, I have put new
spark plugs in, a new ignition coil, a
new exhaust and 4 O2 sensors,
cam shaft sensor. I still cannot get
the engine light to go off. It stays
off for about 20 minutes then pops
back on. I need to get my car
reinspected. Help.

First you need to get the vehicle scanned for the trouble codes. You can get that done at a auto parts store. Write the codes down and post them back here. The codes will let you know what to fix or look at.

Don't spend too much money till you know what cause on it. Check engine are dreaded but that doesn't it can cause your arm and legs. If check engines on have someone check the OBD port and check the code. It could be a simple problem since you have change almost everything. Check the fuel cap, yes the fuel cap. Gas are pressurized if fuel cap not sealing properly it could trigger CEL.

Thanks I'm so frustrated as I've had it checked on the computer and the mechanic said it could be the ECM, I had a computer installed free of charge by Toyota 5 years ago.
