How can i test my starter? Car will not start...i replaced the battery and started twice ... Nothing more after that. I have power, light, radio etc.

Check your connections for shiny clean and tightened up. You turn the key like usual, and you hear.... what, a tap ? a click ? a series of tapping ? or what ? The starter needs power on its pigtail as well as having a good connection to its larger main connection. But what is the result by sound when you try ?

You would need a multimeter or a 12 volt bulb with a couple of wires. You put a wire or the positive probe of the multimeter on the postive post of the starter solenoid and the other wire or negative probe of the multimeter on the body of the starter. You turn the ignition key. If you're getting 12 volts or more or if the 12 volt light lights up, then your starter/starter solenoid is bad. If you're getting less than 12 volts to the starter, it's something inbetwen like the neutral safety switch or a starter relay

Connections that are low amp can work with poor connections but when you want to run a starter motor you need to be able to deliver and have ample surface area of bare metal on both sides of the connection. then get them tightly in full contact. then get them tight so you cannot turn them around by hand. Next when you try to start and those connections had been a mess before? during thosae 2 previous starts ? The amps were having trouble getting back to the battery from the alternator ? It's a theory. You would need to charge up and clean and tighten. check your belt. try again. report the sound you get if it doesn't start but just.....what?

If everything tests good electrically but current cant flow ? smack it with a handle of a tool to see if the part is loose or worn. Internal wear in starter parts is pretty common. Being a jap car, it probably has a nippon starter, and those can wear their contacts from normal use. but thats why I was asking, what sound does it make ? tap , thunk , ratta tat tat ? or nothing ?

It did make a clicking sound. Now there is no sound

The car doesn't make a sound at all when i turn the key.

Either you have not connected the battery well, or you have not charged up during the last 2 good starts you had. This means read the entries this page already has and see what's what .

Could be the ignition part at the steering, when you start your car
