Fix or sale 98 4runner 2wd 290000mls

Had this one for 15 yrs. Has not been driven in 4
mos. Needs brake booster,  starter fixed, steering
leak, oil leak, electrical on lights or turning signals,  
a/c intermittently works, rear seat belt
replacement,  door wiring and door lock jams on
driver, passenger door handle replacement,  rear
key hole fell in, limited use of sun roof, paint peeled
off, shocks and struts needed, alignment needed,
and near time for brakes, and front tires wearing.
One slight fender  accident  ripped plastic
protector in front, and other cosmetics would be
nice. I have a car to sell worth $2000 and another
$3000 I can either put into this 4runner or buy
another used vehicle with no car payment. I love
this vehicle but it's not 4wd. if I want to dump
money into it, I feel I should be able to go camping
and travel. Not sure it will last as far as engine
goes. With all the issues, I'm not sure what I could
sell it for and what used vehicle would I buy that is
better. I have 7 and 12 yr olds n 3 yr old gs. when I
have him.
I would love, in time, to put a nice rack on top, grill
and hella lights, extra electric power for camping,  
repaint and get a small utility wagon for supplies
and cooking. I'd like bigger atl tires and jack up as
it may be standard now. I saw a thread that
someone switched 2wd to 4wd. Is this possible?
Btw, I'm a single mom that doesn't know much
about mechanics.
