and transmission is not
shifting correctly, what can
cause this?

Low transmission fluid causing the transmission to overheat. If you keep driving the vehicle with low fluid, you'll burn up the clutch plates. As in no driving. Look for obvious leaks around the transmission, near the radiator and if your vehicle has a secondary trans oil cooler.. check that too.

Can also be throttle position sensor going out. There is a way to read a "code" off the flashing a/t oil temp light, that code will tell you if it's the TPS

At light just recently came on flashing . Seems to only happen when engine is heated up. 2.2 suburu 1999 Impreza and when turning a sharp corner skipping/ surging what maybe the main problem?

I had this happen to me Saturday. It was the Valve body. $1500 fix. Call Subaru of America. 1 800 782 2783 I let her know how disappointing it is that my car wasn’t even to 130K miles. They took $750 off my bill.

I also had the same valve body problem and Subaru paid the entire repair cost (around $1500.00) with $100.00 deductible.

my wife and I dealt with this fairly recently 2006 Subaru forester we had just had the head gaskets and timing belt replaced. we picked up the car from the mechanic and the at oil temp light was flashing. we let the car sit for two days, then turned the key to start the car and the light blinked immediately, plenty of transmission fluid, and it had been cold for two days so I was thinking theres no way the transmission heats up that fast. we took it back to the mechanic who told us there wire (I think it is a ground but Im not sure) that can get displaced and smashed when all that engine work is being done. they reseated the wire and checked it before handing us back the vehicle, and sure enough no more at oil temp light. I couldn't tell you how fast it was blinking but it felt like two to three times per second. hope this helps someone.

Ground wires are definitely the first thing to check. There is one on each side of the engine towards the front. These wires corrode over time and break, causing the electronic systems to freak out. Had this happen on a 2010 tribeca after driving through deeper snow recently. Both grounds can be replaced for about 15 bucks total.

I had all four lights flashing; traction control, ABS, AT Temp and the one appearing like the car is going up a hill. I scanned it and it turned out that the torque converter solenoid was bad. They changed it, serviced the transmission and I drove it 50km. The light stayed off, I am still watching it.

I have the AT Temp oil light flashing; and the traction control, ABS, and the one appearing like the car is going up a hill lit up. It doesn't happen all the time, twice in the last 5 days. Suggestions?

I'm having the same exact problem. I drove over a bump in the road and WHAM temp, abs, brake, cruise control---all blinking. Then we started over heating. This is most definitely a computer issue---and there have been recalls/warranty issues with the CVT (before all this, we'd just stall out at a red light or a stop sign). I have disconnected the battery then connected it back---all the dash lights turned off, but once I put it in drive and got not 100 meters down the road, all the lights came back flashing. I'm gonna disconnect again but will let it idle for longer, maybe it will help. You think replacing the whole computer would do anything?

I just had the same issue, flashing AT stopped at a gas station, let it idle for a bit, got gas, and it stopped flashing. Ive also had the Brakes, cruise control, and curve, and check engine light go on all together and that's a emissions sensor problem that keeps on happening, anyone else have this issue? I have a Subaru Outback 2011

Similar issue here too. Subaru Outback 2014. All lights lit up - pulled over, turned off. When I restarted and just the Check Engine light - drove a few yards, then the AT Oil Temp light started flashing. Pulled over to try again - same thing happened. Just those two lights. Dealership says to replace the valve body - $1500. Says it's a known issue with Subies. Says they upped their warranty to 100k - too bad I'm at 126,000. Sadly I purchased the Subaru because I was under the impression they lasted well into the 200k mileage. What a disappointment - no longer wish to stick to this brand vehicle.

I have 2016 Subaru Forester 2.0xt Touring. Every past years, I went to dealership due to OXYGEN SENSOR failure. They replaced each time. This June, I went to dealership again for Engine lights on. They diagnosed then decide to try other way. They cleaned the upper transmission and didn't replace anything. July, the engine lights on appeared again but few days later, it magically disappeared. Today, it shows up agian. I've never had any friend who drives another brand vehicle have this kind of problems. The Subaru is no longer the reliable brand we used to trust.

Could also be an issue with the transmissions valve body, which is what just happened to my 2012 Subaru Impreza Sport

Same problem here. My belief from everything I’ve read is that it’s the torque converter solenoid. (Guru7kk3k good looking out) I’ve check the grounds, not the problem. I’ll be replacing the computer next because it was cheaper than a valve body. But valve body is my next go to after I’ve tried the torque converter solenoid. I’ll let you know about the computer. The other difference in my case is my headlight low beams have gone out. They were replaced and went out again fairly quickly. Also my cruise control has never worked since I bought the vehicle and neither had the Manuel feature. I’ve got a 2010 Outback 2.5L with auto CVT that I recently acquired from a girl friend. I’ve changed some of the transmission oil. Via drain plug and fill plug on trans. Topped off the level until it was pouring out the fill plug and it did absolutely nothing. I’ve removed, sanded down and reinstalled the grounds. No change I don’t believe it’s got anything to do with the accelerator pedal. Before I replace the valve body I’m replacing the computer and torque converter solenoid. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I have a 2014 Subaru Legacy and we had transmission fluid added to it because it was low and now the At Oil Temp light is flashing, the cruise control light is flashing, the check engine light is on, and the brake light is flashing. What could it be?
