just had a new radio installed and now where the mileage and date and etc is
the date wont come on every time i reset it it goes blank

It does that because you didn't pay the $300 for every single adapter that goes to the radio including the one that is specifically for OnStar and the one that is causing your problem is because of the swc which are they steering wheel control buttons! There is going to have been one wire that was not correctly installed if you actually do have that adapter in there!
