2003 pontiac grand prix overheating

Asked by lxndr2189 Aug 20, 2018 at 12:47 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my friend left to the bay area and left me his car to have about a week ago.
He says it overheats alot but it still runs. On is way to my house before he left
he somehow lost the radiator cap so I know I have to replace that. But I'm
trying to figure out why it keeps overheating and if its even worth trying to fix.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's normal for the antifreeze to spill out without the cap. It probably doesn't have enough antifreeze in it, although you might experience water pump issues/plugged radiator because it's been left open so long.
