03 pontiac grand prix no power

Asked by Jgalloway23 Sep 13, 2015 at 07:20 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car starts with a jump but dies shortly
after I remove the cables. I went ahead and
picked up a new battery for it and it ran for
maybe a day after that. So I had the alt
checked and it tested good as well.so I
checked both interior and under the hood
fuses and all seem to be in working
condition. I followed the wires to be sure of
no fault there. Still starts while being
jumped but dieshe once cables are
disconected. I also checked the spark plugs
and they also seem to be in order. If
someone could help me out I would greatly
appreciate it.

Can you give us the voltage readings of the battery and alternator readings ?

Alright I'll try that. But would that account for total loss of power even the locks and interior lights when the car dies. Ithe would make sense that it had something to do with the ignition if I didn't loose all power and the engine just shut down.

clean the battery cables with a battery post and cable cleaner brush make sure they have good contact . are you jumping it from the cables that are on the battery or is there a jump spot on that car
