my car will start one time but not the next

My car one time will start right up and then the
next time it wont..and I can put the jumper cables
on and it starts right up no waiting ...why is this

Loose battery connections, or more likely a worn out battery spring to mind. Make sure the connections are tight and have the battery load tested.
