Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 pontiac grand am. My service engine
light has been on for a while. Codes says EGR
valve. I replaced the EMG several times and the
code still shows. I have run seafoam thru it with no
luck. Mechanics couldn't read to computer to find
a problem. I am lost and out of money. Help please

What is the "EMG"? Not correcting the EGR problem will not damage the engine if you run for a while with the light on but you should get it fixed. Have you replaced the EGR valve yet? The problem with running with the light on for any length of time is that you wont know if your car throws another code for something else.

Auto Zone or Advanced Auto and other big parts stores will read your codes for free. Get it diagnosed, maybe it just needs to be cleared
