2004 pontiac grand am i wa driving car and all of a sudden breaks started pulsating and then started grinding what could this be

Pulsating sounds like ABS, but the grinding is not good! Did the "Trac Off","ABS",or "Service Engine Soon", light come on at the same time? The wheel bearing/ hub assembly would my first thought. Hope this helps, Good Luck.
