Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Gas leaks from under the car from the tank when finishing a fill up. there is no
leaking when driving or when parked uphill or downhill. this only happens
when the auto shutoff from the pump stops the gas flow. it seems like the
amount that leaks out is the amount that is in the fill tube.

I think there is a leak in the filler neck. Probably a bad rubber hose.

I thought that also except it does not leak as it is filling only right at the end of a fill up when the auto shut off stops the fuel flow from the hose.

First, do not add more gas after the shutoff has activated at the pump. Check the integrity of the rubber line that attaches at the filler neck and the filler tube itself. Look for cracks or splits in the tubing or a hose that is not connected to the filler neck.

There is more than one hose on your fill spout. One is a vent . Probably a loss clamp or a bad hose connection at the filler assembly.
