The '97 GT could have either the 3100 v-6 or the 2.4 Twin Cam. These two motors are used in a lot of cars and will be easy to find. The 3100 can be found from '93 up to '05 but use a '99 or older motor because some things were changed in 2000. Found in lots of GM FWD cars (most). The older 3.1 cannot be used without mods. The 2.4 Twin Cam can be found from '95 to '03 but stay '99 and older for the above reasons. Cavalier z24, Sunfire GT, Grand Am's, Achieva, Alero, Malibu and Skylark.

Any of the years of each engine will fit. Depending on the car some brackets and accessories may need to be changed from your motor to the replacement.
