Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 1994 grand am and is having overheating problems and I started with the fan and it runs by testing it with a 9 volt.So now I'm wondering if there is a relay to the fan and the location of it,so it can be replaced. Thanks

Fan relay is located one of two places -- inside the fuse box, or on the front radiator crossmember, down low, visible from underneath the vehicle, usually on driver's side. Dodge Intrepids had 2, one for high speed and one for low speed fan operation, plus the fan controller mounted below the fan as described. Any one of these could be a problem. With a 1994 Grand Am, I would most definitely pressure test the cooling system. They were known for intake manifold and head gasket leaks.
