Body control module location

Asked by 2manyquestions Nov 22, 2017 at 02:23 PM about the 1997 Lincoln Town Car Executive

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Inherited a 1997 Lincoln Town Car
with low miles. Sat for two years to
get estate settled. Everything was
working when parked.  Now mirror
control, door lock switch, cruise
control, radio, and panel dimmer are
not working. Horn stuck on (pulled
relay for that). Air suspension
problem too. Sounds to tech like a
bcm gone bad. No bcm found on
fusebox or either kick panel. Car
was built July 1996. Any help would
be appreciated beyond belief.
Thanks!

so your mechanic can't figure it out- I am always suspicious when a mechanic defaults to the "bad computer" solution- I was about to guess that some mice had built a nest in there- you know, cute ones

Does sound like a LCM or a BCM (same thing). Location is to the right under the driver dash board. Two flanged hex head screws mount through a meal panel which the LCM rest upon. Remove the two screws, and be sure to press on the plastic alignment clip to remove. Pull LCM box back toward firewall and then disconnect four clusters of wires. Look up on Summit Racing to see a picture of your LDCM. Hope this helps, Chris
