Jeep doesn't stay running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed manifold distributor wires ignition coil
thermostat speed sensor all within last 2wks. It ran
for 2 days after I picked up from mechanic. After I
put gasoline in it the jeep didn't want to stay on.
Almost as it was flooded. It's almost like coughing
and running out of breathe. If that makes sense.  I
dont know what to do. Any suggestions? It's a 96
jeep grand Cherokee laredo 4x4 6 straight engine

Even if there is no "check engine" light on, scan for codes and fix accordingly. A common fault on this engine is the crankshaft position sensor, code P0320. That provides spark signal. Also do a fuel pressure test. There is a Schrader valve hookup on the fuel rail. Look for about 60 psi. Check fuel filter which I believe contains the pressure regulator too.

We actually changed the crankshaft sensor few weeks prior to the rest of the work. How do I ask a mechanic to check the other things? I dont want to feel like I'm doing his job?

Sounds like you are doing his job. I think some mechanics "lay back" and let you do all the diagnostic work. Then if it's wrong, it's your fault. I would consult with another mechanic and start fresh. Good luck but don't forget to run a diagnostic code scan. It is probably something really simple like a loose ground wire. And crankshaft position sensors have to be set to an exact clearance to the flywheel....that's 0.030 inches.
