02 yukon xl 1500 5.3 stalls out when pressing the gas

Asked by Elaine Aug 02, 2022 at 11:35 PM about the 2002 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So the other day when heading to work my yukon as
she started on the road wouldn't go past 45 and when
we realized we tried to turn back around but before
we could she died and WOULD NOT start back up. Got
her back home and then have been checking her.
She's got a fresh oil change recent tune up. The gas
pressure coming out of the top fuel rail line is only
steady small stream not a strong spray. Today I have
been able to get her to cut on and stay on but only in
park. If you press the gas to Rev it up or manually, she
cuts back off. I'm leabing towards fuel filters but
wanting some more advise if possible. Any ideas
would be GREATLY appreciated.

Test for fuel proper fuel pressure , check for power ground at fuel pump when you hit the key as it's temporary before start up . There may be a relay .

My old Yukon did this, had to replace the fuel pump assembly.

Ok so we have ordered both the filter and pump... I appreciate the guidance.

Better get a fuel pump relay also. When you get on there take a good look at the fuel pump connector. It maybe burnt or have a corrosion problem.
