Rear shocks

Asked by 04VICL1FE Jul 10, 2019 at 12:59 PM about the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced my OEM rear shocks with Gabriel ultra shocks and
now the rear end is extremely bouncy as if I have coilovers on
it. I do have a heavy speaker box (4 12s) in the trunk but that
never affected the OEM shocks. The ride height DID come up
less than a 1/4 of an inch with the new shocks. WHY IS SO
STIFF AND BOUNCY?????

High performance shocks will be stiffer. Maybe you want soft ride shocks instead.

The OEM's were probably shot and you got used to a dull ride. Drive on them for a week or two and let them settle in before replacing.
