my 93 bronco stays running after i turn the key off

this happened to me, I actually was unable to repair it myself. What happens is there is a metal bar in your steering column and its not super strong. Well in my case that broke, I went to a ford dealership and had it fixed for 300 some bucks. The question for you is, does your key spin freely? thats the case I had

for my first vehicle i recently got a 93 ford bronco xlt 302 and it didnt run. we now have it running but not quite driving. im scared that it will die on me when i pull up to a stop sign because its that it wont idle correctly without me giving it a little gas. we tested the idle air control valve and it is in good shape. any suggestions or answers will be helpful.
