what is better, 4 or 6 cylinder jeep 1988 and 1990

I have a 1990 and a 1988 jeep wrangler rebuilding, what engine should i use?  The body on the 1990 was turned over the 1988
has not ran in 7 years but a great body.  Like a woman I want the best all around, know what I mean?

The 4 may not necessarily get better mpg if you have to work the engine that much harder. If you got hills go 6. If you got alota highway go 4.
