How do I tell from the vin # what the original color and options came on a car in '66

You can go to the DMV website: http://www.dmv.org/vehicle-history.php and put your vin number in. They have the history of your car in a database.

dmv? just look at the data plate on the firewall . then you need to decode it . like it will say, pnt- & then 2 letters thats the paint code & so on. dmv hasn't got a clue to this info.
