Subaru Outback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I’m wanting a Subaru Outback
and I’m looking a two. One is an 05’
with 121k 1 owner that looks well
maintained and the other a 09’ with
167k that also looks well maintained.
The reason I’m conflicted between
the two is because I’ve heard the
motors in the 09’ is different then the
05’ and that the 09’s motor is
“better”. I would love some insight on
this issue, thanks.

With this many miles it boils down to how well the cars were taken care of. I would probably go with the lower mile car if the head gaskets and timing belt have been replaced. The 09 engine is pretty much the same as the other car.
