I like the BMW "141" 17" wheels. They look fine on my black 3-door 1er, and ride comfort is better than with 18"ers.

I would seriously not recommend anything larger than 17" I bought mine used with 18" and although the rims wear quality tires they are not comfortable to ride with. They look good but that's it. If you go larger than 17" make sure they are not wider than 215. I have 225 from and 255 back - I am planning on changin to something smaller due to lack of driving comfort.
