Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking to purchase a beater car and there is a 1984 convertible volkeswagon
rabbit up the street being sold for $1600, 140,000 miles.  I don't really know
anything about cars, but really like the look of this one. worth it?

I bought my 1984 VW Rabbit Convertible with no rust and new top for 1000 in Minnesota. Only 100k on it. If everything on it was mint and original it could be worth up to 4k-7k. If its in rough condition, a lot of aftermarket replacements and runs rough $200 for parts.... maybe. These cars really run the gamut on price range.
