The Red Light in my 73' vw Beetle won't go out and the battery is consistently draining

My Volkswagen Beetle will run, however
when I start it up, the red generator light
does not go out, and the battery is
consistently draining and I need to charge
it back up. Also, the headlights are dim,
and the radio does not work. I have already
replaced both a generator and a voltage
regulator, and it still is a problem. I'm not
versed in the vw electrical system, what
could be wrong with my car?

a bad connection somewhere,or defective parts

Your generator or alternators bad needs replaced it's not charging the battery should be on your pulley system

1998 beetle. Went for oil change. As soon as they completed it my check engine light came on. They checked code, was some emmissions code. Okay so the light goes out 2 days later. A few days later the car wont start, like it is out of gas, it's turning but not catching. I let it sit for 1/2 hr then it starts and the engine light back on.
