hi could you help me please i have a 1972 beetle and it says on the bootlid that its a 1300,then i put the reg number HGH 578K in ebay and it says i have a 1649 engine,engine number is AS345144.any help would be grateful my email is onehunglow@fsmail.net thanks dave

Hi Beetleman! The standard engine on that model year was the 1600, (your 1649) so it's most likely that's the engine in there, producing a whopping 60 hp by the way! Hope that helps...Good luck!
