What is the red wire coming from the firewall to the battery

This "red" wire if a heavier gauge is probably the feed to the fuse block inside of the cab. This is the main feed for the branch circuits that are distributed through the fuse block. This is purely a guess. I don't know the vehicle, but that's what it may be.
