why does oil light blink???

Dear scottd-- There are two reasons that the oil light is blinking on your 1999 Volkswagen Jetta. First, perhaps the sensor is giving you a false alarm or there is trouble in your warning system. Second, and most importantly, perhaps you have a problem with delivery of oil to your engine. Don't guess which problem is yours. You can survive the first scenario, but the second could be fatal to the car if left without immediate service. Have a good mechanic look at your car right away. Good luck from Bovan.
