Any trouble codes? Is check engine light coming on? From your description it seems you are having a fuel delivery issue. Can be anything from dirty fuel filter, bad fuel pressure regulator, bad fuel pump, or possible EVAP problems.

The Flywheel as it rotates may not be consistently providing an electrical spark to the cylinders to ignite the fuel. Some cars depend on the Flywheel to provide an electrical spark to the cylinders.
