I have a 1990 chevy pick up and it felt like it ran out of gas spudtery and bogey then stopped. I put gas in it and it will turn over but not start. Whats wrong with it

Fuel pump went. First check the relay. Remove fuel cap and put your ear to the hole. Have someone turn the key to Accessory. Can you hear the fuel pump hum? If no hum, I would replace the fuel pump.
