Ignition Coil under the car

Asked by Rescue56 Mar 04, 2019 at 01:35 PM about the 1966 Ford Mustang

Question type: General

Hello,
I have a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe, I was changing the rear end and while I
was down there I saw a Ignition Coil under the car by the drivers side rear seat.
As I was rewiring the tail lights the wiring harness had a wire for an ignition coil.
So my question What is the coil and the coil wire for?

There is no reason for that to be under a standard equipped 66 Mustang. Maybe a previous owner set up a spark or flame thrower for the tailpipe?

The harness came from cjparts just like that. Thank you for your quick responses. That was my first thoughts to just wanted a second and third opinion
