Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi everyone my pontiac aztek 2003 seems to be
making a high pitched whinning noise, when
accelerating.  Just looked at the transmission fluid
and it's very very low.  Could this have caused
damaged to the transmission.   Help any
suggestions on what to do before taking to a
mechanic

Running your Aztec low on tranny fluid could ruin it real soon. Top it up and see if the sounds stop and it shifts okay. You might be lucky. Then consider having fluid and filter changed every 30K to 50K miles from now on. Some shops will do that for about $100....money spent wisely.

It's mostly likely your power steering fluid. My Aztec does the same thing and it's always the power steering fluid.
