service engine or check engine light will turn on. a code reader will read the code and put it into words. quite possibly a misfire. sometimes this is caused by the crankshaft position sensor, i had the 3.8L V6 motor and replaced this sensor once. no problems after it was replaced with a new one. also a good idea to change the pcv assembly.

Thanks Mike...I will look into the crankshaft sensor...BTW engine light has been on for months...had machanic check it over and he could not find a reason?

Sometimes it is not a mechanical issue, and a sensor has reached its lifetime. It is still a good practice to have a licensed and certified technician have a look and go through the diagnostic process to get to the root of the issue. All the best friend.

I had the same problem, the first time , I changed the Coils, wires and spark plugs. that lasted a year. the last time I changed the Ignition module.
