Heat blows cold also, get small spurts of heat when up to speed it seems
I've got it up on stands but still can't get direct sight to a leak
Leaks more when car is on also, looking in from the passenger side can see pooled dex-cool looking in between the crank shaft and A/C more so underneath and below the engine/crank shaft
On my 06 Grand Prix, I had the same problem. It ended up being the heater hose bypass elbows. They're made of brittle plastic and like to crack. I replaced them with Aluminum ones. You have to remove the alternator and idler pulley to get to them. The reason your heat isn't working is probably due to low coolant.
Dorian is right. Regardless of what else you find you need to get those elbows replaced. They all fail sooner or later and when one blows it will leave you stranded on the side of the road. They are cheap and relatively easy to do, and while you're in there you'll probably find the source of the leak if its not the elbows. Be sure to properly bleed the cooling system when you refill it or you'll still have overheating problems and intermittent heat.
Sounds like a leaking heater core to me.

how long can i wait to fix t i just bought and grand prix gt seeing the same issue but really don't have the money to fix it right away
If you fix it yourself, it can be done for less than $20.

My Pontiac Grand Prix 2000 model 3800 water is pouring out as fast I I pour it in right under the center of the engine on passenger side but looks like it is coming right in the middle caint see becouse the water pump and belts are in the way
Probably the plastic elbows tha go to the heater. It’s a cheap and relatively easy fix.
Mines not the elbows, hose, pump,or manafold gasket.... because that's all new.....pos
Possibly a gasket leak then. The intake gasket is known to break down and fail and of course the water pump gasket is a possibility as well. If its a relatively minor leak there's a good chance you can seal it off with Bars Leak. My car took two applications, but it sealed mine up nicely at least 5 years ago and saved me the time and expense of taking the top of my engine apart. It's a GM approved repair method and won't hurt your engine regardless of what you may have read online.
I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am and it's leaking antifreeze and it just started overheating a couple nights ago and when I poured stuff into it it was just pouring out is there a way I can seal it until I can get the money to fix it
No. If it’s leaking that bad you need to park it until you can fix it. Sounds like the plastic elbows that go to the heater core, but that’s just a guess. Not a big repair if that’s what it is though. But do not drive it until repaired!
Its a 15 dollar fix at most just did mine today took like an hour on a 3800 super charged from start threw refilling it and burping the air bubbles out

I'm dealing with the same issue right now and found the leak. Its a crack in the weld on the lower block on the pipe between the water pump and the lower radiator hose. You have to take off the ignition control panel to see it and its still hard to find. A flashlight and small hand mirror will let you see if thats where your leak is as it will drip down right there. Ima try some JB weld and prayer.
Hey Benevolent did u get it fixed or did the JB work? I think mine has the exactly same issue on my 06 Grand Prix.
Seal All is another possibility. It should stick even if everything is not dry. Not sure if it will handle the pressure though. Just a thought.
Hey I think I have the same leak right at the lower water inlet has anyone tried the jb weld with success
Your engine block heater has failed and coolant pressure has forced it out of the engine. You need to have a new block heater installed and new coolant put in. In the mean time you should not run the engine for more than a very few minutes as there is no coolant in it anymore and it will overheat and do major damage very quickly.

My 1999 started getting leaking and getting hot the engine hasn’t even gotten hot but the coolant it boiling. Any clue why it would leak near the coolant reservoir? Checked the reservoir it doesn’t leak.
I would check out the water pump and examine the hoses but I’m betting it’s the water pump.
My 2005 Pontiac is leaking coolant from this spot I am thinking it's the water pump where it's leaking from
Can't tell what that's a picture of, but water pump, hoses, radiator, elbows to the heater core are all possibilities. Remember it can be leaking one place ahd running out of the car somewhere else entirely. Also remember its summer so air conditioners drip constantly when the car is turned off as frozen condensation melts off. If that's the case its just water, not coolant, and is not a leak. Especially if its back near the firewall, make sure its coolant and not just water.
I'm having the same issue mine is a 3.8 base model, I'll respond to this with some information in the morning. I am replacing my water pump because I just purchased the car two days ago cheap as hell because the lady thought the water pump replacement was a huge deal.. her mechanic told her it was just the water pump but it's dripping like crazy on the passenger side and I didn't see any visible holes. However the rad lines are rotten bad so I am assuming it's a combination of leaks. I am hoping to find them tomorrow and I'll have to go from there.. Unfortunately the metal rusted lines are gonna have to be replaced, 100%. I got a days work ahead of me.. but since there is a leak there is obvious pressure, rad seems to be working.
