A friend did it just last Saturday on his 2001 Ford Taurus, it took a few hours because several parts must be out of the way before the oil pan can be removed. The first thing was to raise the car, then remove right hand wheel, loosen the Y in the exhaust manifold and lower as much as possible, disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connectors (wire on the way), remove the transaxle bracket, remove flywheel/ torque convertor cover, remove the 18 bolts and the oil pan should come loose. I suggest that you inspect everything that may be in your way carefully before you attempt to do this job. Don't forget to drain the oil first.
