battery light illuminates and car will stall and restart five minutes later. help!

I have a 2002 Mercury Sable. Car runs fine, well taken care of. The problem is the
battery light illuminates and car will stall and restart five minutes later. Sometimes i can
drive the car for weeks but then the battery light illuminates and the car will stall when i
give it gas. Help! Any suggestions?

I agree with js0816. Something else to look at is that loose or dirty battery connections can cause this too. Tighten and clean all battery connections. Also tighten and clean the negative battery connections on the frame and motor. Hope this helps
