These vehicles are what nightmares are made of. Sure sounds like it could be a couple of things, computer problems, engine idle speed controller, vacuum leak, fuel vapor control and even fuel pressure regulator. It would be best to have your favorite independent shop check it out. A dealer is only going to gouge you bad.

See if the engine's running lean or you have a vacuum leak. Or see if the air intake is leaking or the air filter housing isn't tight. It might be a defective idle air control valve/solenoid or defective mass airflow sensor. If you haven't had a good tune-up in a long time, it might be an ignition problem, like old/fouled plugs. This is easy for a mechanic to diagnose & fix.
