Car alarm will not shut off when battery is connected.

Asked by Guru9QGW9V Mar 19, 2022 at 06:55 PM about the 1998 INFINITI I30

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My dad's 98 Infinity I30 has been sitting for about 10 years and I installed a new
battery in it and the alarm will not shut off nor will the engine turn over. Could
this be an issue with the starter?

It's probably the bull shit after market alarm system , no one wants your car people , it's a P.O.S. and your alarm is stupid .

Sounds like the security system was set when the vehicle was parked. Then the battery went dead and the security system has locked down the vehicle. I had this happen to me once with my 2000 Grand Prix. Different car, I know, but I used the remote key fob to lock then unlock the vehicle (while the horn was blaring and the lights were flashing) to reset the security system. Hope that helps! Jim

Sitting for 10 years? search online on how to properly start a vehicle sitting the long. The procedure is to drain all the old fuel from the tank and lines, new fluids like engine oil etc.
