My Car Died

Asked by Seffer138 Jun 15, 2018 at 09:17 PM about the 1998 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving home one day and I heard a snap come from right above my front
passenger wheel. It caused my steering wheel to turn to the right. (If I'm
driving straight my steering wheel is pointed toward the right) Then as a couple
weeks went by I noticed that when I accelerated it would pull to the left and
when I braked it would pull to the right(before my breaks would pull slightly to
the left). It got really bad. Then I noticed my car didn't seem to go when I
wanted it to. If I stepped on the gas it would take a while for it to actually kick
in. Then today I went to start my car and when it started it shook back and
forth then died. I havent been able to turn it back on since then. My check
brake lights have been on through all of this, no other lights have ever been
on. Then after it died on me, it shut off and the battery and oil light turned on
and well as the service engine soon. But its too late to service it now...

The steering issue and the engine issues probably have different causes. In your case the engine dying may have saved your life as driving it with a broken part in the suspension was dangerous.
