Towing capacity of my 1999 Durango SLT V8
I was told at the Dodge dealership that my Durango will only tow about 4600 lbs but I've Googled this and I'm finding some contradictory information. I've read that it will tow between 6000 and 7200 lbs depending on if it's the standard V8 or the Magnum V8.
Can anyone confirm the correct towing capacity? We want to buy a camper but if towing capacity is limited, it makes it hard to find a good sized camper that our Durango can pull.
depends on the Engine (4.7L, 5.2L, or 5.9L) and the gear ratios, 4,600 pounds for a any V8 in the durango should be easy
well #1 both the V8s are a "magnum V8" its a difference in the heads on the newer 318s/360s compared to the older ones but if it has the 5.9 liter V8 like my ram does (yes i know they sit on a different frame) id bet you could tow 10,000 lbs easily, ive towed 15,000 with my ram with the help of an air assist suspension.
My 01 R/T is rated at 7500lbs. Engine size does not matter. It is rated for the vehicle. i tow a 18 foot bass boat with mine and it loads it down pretty good.
I have pulled my sixteen foot double axle utility with all different kind of cars, suv's, and small trucks, even a 1994 trans-am that i had to put the little spare on to get it to fit on the trailer with my 1999 durango slt. w/318ci.
hI, I WILL BE TOWING MY 26' HOLIDAY TRAILER WITH MY 2000 DURANGO THIS WEEKEND, TRAILER WEIGHT APPROX 4400 LBS, I WILL LET YOU KNOW, I HAVE A MAGNUM V8 SLT.
Have guestion will my 2000 dodge Durango pull my 2004 ram pickup
