My transmission is acting funny

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire 3.2 v6 standard. This morning I was driving it to school and I would have to shift into second gear at about 20 mph so my rpms wouldn't reach higher than 3500. I have no idea what is going on and I am nervous to drive it again. Please help.

Sounds like it could be the Mass Air Flow Sensor. If you have done anything to increase the air flow such as a 3" hose on both ends of the engine cover and added after market canister filters, this could be it. Though this could also be the air filters themselves. They are located under the engine cover and should be changed on a regular basis.

This same thing happened to me. 30 mph at 5000 rpms. When that happens, you are in limp home mode. You will only be allowed to drive in 1st and reverse. Do not drive the vehicle until it is checked out. I have a transmission shop that has a Mercedes specialist. Original quote $2500, luckily only $700. It was the harness. Then some wires shorted out. Btw, veh only has 22000 miles. Sharon p
