Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car lights keep going bright then dim
flickering whilst I'm driving. Also the
blowers have a surge of power when this
happens. And sometimes when I go to
start my car the ignition wines couple of
times , gets stuck then turns over. What do
you think the problem is ? I've had a
mechanic look at it alternator & battery
check & wiring couldn't find any faults.

Everything good with battery & alternator, sounds like when you put a load on the system then the lights dim & you hear it in the bower motor. What needs to be done is go threw and clean ALL ground wires that you can find. Bad ground somewhere.

Negative post on the battery, black wires that run to metal, like fenders, engine, frame.

Took the car yesterday for second opinion on alternator & battery to Kwickfit. Alternator was ok again but they said battery being 11 yrs needed changing. So I've put a new one on. Went to work today and it's still the same. Blowers fluctuating in speed & lights going bright then dim. Inside and outside. Today also I noticed battery red light flashed on twice then went of again. And when I drive the car seems to be lacking power especially 4&5 gears missing a beat or two. Any help please would u sAy see auto electrician ?

I believe it is going to be a bad connection, starting to lose contact, ground wires especially.

On those connections you just make sure they are tight, those are positive leads. If you just had a battery put in then those connections should be good. Follow the black wire from the negative side of the battery to where it connects, check and clean that one for sure. Look for wires attached to the fire wall, the body any where, anything attached to a metal part is ground.

Also watch out for open, exposed wires that are not covered by its insulation, corrosion on where the wires go into its connector, your looking for anything bad visually.
