2003 Ford Focus zx3 Driver seat stuck all the way back

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello! I just bought a used 2003 Ford Focus ZX3. The driver's &
passenger's seats are stuck all the way back (in the reclining position). The
handle to fix it just moves up and down, but doesn't do anything to the seat.
I used to have a 2001 focus same model but never had this problem.
It looks like the spring is connected to the handle. Wondering how to fix
this. If anyone has an idea. I have really bad arthritis in my back, so the
position of the seat needs to be more forward for support or else my back
starts to really hurt.
Thanks!!!

You have options- fix it yourself, you may be able to take the seat back apart and fix the linkage- have a mechanic do the same- or just buy new seats and have them installed- with your bad back, this might be the way to go because you could get a really supportive custom seat that would support your back- I would start by looking at a set of Recaros- but this could get a little pricey- how much is your back worth?
