What is this and how do I fix it?

Asked by Gershom Jun 15, 2013 at 04:39 PM about the 2004 Ford Expedition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.  While replacing the spark plugs, I came across a piece of rubber cracked and has holes.  As you can see, I put some electrical tape on it, but I am not sure if this is a vacuum line or part of the emissions system.  Either way, the kid at Napa said he didn't list any part to fix it and suggested I go to Ford.  If you know, could you tell me what this is and how I should go about correcting the issue?   Thank you in advance!

Had same issue with my sport trac. No one could find or get me the part I needed. Ended up getting a rubber hose of about the same size and used hose clamps to secure it to the intake and hard pipe.

its just a rubber hose for the pcv valve. the dealer might not sell it seperate it may come with the whole line. I just find a hose of the same size and cut it to fit.

Do what dandyoun did. I don't understand how Ford got away with using EVAP and PCV hose that disintegrates so easily but they did. Take the hose to the parts store and find one the same ID and cut to fit. Use clamps if you like.
