civics hav a small amount of hp to begin with so if i already have a new exhaust and cold air intake what else can bump up the hp with out jumpin to a turbo.

Overall I Love My 2000 Honda Civic Dx Coupe, It Has Great Gas Mileage And Is Fun To Drive Not To Mention Pretty Darn Spacious. My Only Complaints Are No Sunroof And The Cup Holders Suck.! But I Still Say, Its A Great Car. I Will Miss It When I Upgrade Vehicles... I Want A Truck!May 24, 2014

bought this car used, very close to stock..hehehe, i am the second owner, the previous owner had swapped a b18 motor but yanked it out before he sold it to the dealership. well he was kind enough to put a sohc 1.6 (being sarcastic), well i drove it till a rod completely warped and a cylinder wall cracked, i swapped another sohc 1.6 and the same thing happend to that motor... super weird.well then i ran into a really good deal on a b16 w/ tranny .. too good to be true. the motor lasted a week!! came to find out the previous owner ran high boost on trashed the internals.it could have been rapaired but it would take too long so i took a chance and swapped a jdm d15 motor in it that i picked up really cheap, ever since then ive stayed with that motor. alot of people look down on the singles,i looked at it as a challenge :). but ive now got a high comp/rev build pushing about 300hp to the wheels.naturally aspirated :).after aaaaloot of researching, outsourcing,traveling,calling and countless hours of work and frustration on my wifes part!.. is now paying back :), is extremely reliable , i dont horsebeat it. its just nice knowing i have a 11k rpm powerplant that roars when need to. its my daily driver, my grocery go geter, my commuter, my weekend toy,, everything. im now 24 years old , some suggest i should move on, but i say why??the car is paid off, low insurance cost. ima keep it till it either vanishes...gets taken by a tornado lol ;), or santa wrecks it by hitting it with his sled ... jajaja.. its my first car. and i really enjoy owning it. i guess there is that sentimental attachment , but its been really good to me. i firmly state this is the best year for the civics :) my personal opinion.Mar 28, 2013

I love this car and everything about it if it wasn't so finicky!! I love owning a head
turner and love the attention it gets. Great for a single family, if you have bigger
friends I would not recomend this car. But other than that its my fav car I have

I love the b16 tranny and how well it shifts. the clutch has some life on it you can tell, no slip or anything. I have kept up on maintenance tune ups etc. this thing has been well taken care of and not abused like all these ricer kids are doing to civicsSep 17, 2012

The stick shift version of the Civic is the best for the performance on the road because it can bring out the real acceleration of the vehicle. The cost of maintenance is cheap and the ride is always a trip if you learn the car.Mar 14, 2011

Pros; Great gas mileage, low running cost, very reliable mine has never broken down, excellent build quality, comfortable for lots of driving, sunroof, very usable trunk space.
Cons: Relatively slow responding acceleration, no feed back from steering wheel, low stance make entering and exiting extra work for persons over six feet tall, low amount of head room in rear is inconvenient for adult passengers.Sep 22, 2010

Performance- For the stock engine that comes in this car, it is VERY IMPRESSIVE!
Handling- This car handles great, especially after you lower it and put a few more mods on it.
Exterior Appearance: the SI edition civic looks sick even off the showroom floor.
Interior Appearance: They could have made the dash and guages a little bit more updated, digital would have been perfect!

This car was a great car. Interior was in great condition, The performance was not
the best but it was still fun. The cost of the car was kinda steep if you add all the
changes together it was expensive. Even after all the changes it was still good on

Smooth standard transmission drive that is good on gas. Small
compact with good road handling and transmission. Some
complain of slow changing of gears but me thinks drawback is
acceleration. it is kinda slow when accelerating. Aside that, a

Preformance: Pretty peppy, decent stop and go acceleration. step on it to its 8700RPM redline and you'll be smiling all the way home.
Its sporty breaks with 4 wheel disk's were ahead of its time for the price. and its got front and rear sway bars, giving it go-kart like attributes.
Build quality: mines nine years old with only one little squeak. i have done only maintnance repairs to this car.
Appearance: for a nine year old car. i think it still looks great, with optional front and rear lips.
Cost of ownership: very cheap on gas, i average 33MPG, as well as belts that i replaced, in total about 400 dollars.Allthough insurance is a little up top.
Fun factor: the car is VERY fun to drive, its very spirited and quick, allthough refined and comfortable.Nov 10, 2009

Weak performance.
The 2000 coupe (Canadian model: Si; US model: EX) represents a stylish, reliable car that is more refined than the competition.
For a model that is marketed as being "sporty," however, performance is weak and unimpressive. While reliable and fuel efficient, the 127-HP VTEC engine just doesn't put out enough power to justify the "Si" badge.
Rear drum brakes and small front disks translate into very poor stopping power when pushed hard.
Later Si models provide much more power and performance for the money.

Acceleration is slow, but perfectly peppy for a 1.6, handling is beautiful and tight. Build quality? Never brought it to the shop. Appearance- my favorite. I decked mine out a little, but it's a beautiful car, inside and out. Great on gas, basically no maintnance required, only the needed oil change. Absolutely fun to drive, especially standard. ONE word HONDA = long lasting motor that burns oil and will eventualy rust and you can get parts cheap for it. Lots of options to make it have more HP. easy to work on and lots of people have knowledge on itSep 11, 2009

best generation civic for looks (96-2000), totally

Es una gran carro para carretera, solo en ciudad llega a pegar en los topes, es muy bajito.
Algo bueno es que hay muchisimas modificaciones aplicables de super buena calidad.

Was a good car for a while. Until the engine seized at 73k, a honda engine?? I had to replace my engine, but ended up getting a dohc engine instead. So I guess other than that major pain in the ass it is a good car. Still only has 77k on it so I may sell it, but why start my payments over again?Nov 28, 2008

Performance - quick for a small motor, really shines in 3rd gears going 60 mph
Build Quality - its excellent with no squeaks or rattles
Appearance - still think it looks better than newer models
Cost of Ownership - gas mileage is ok, had the car for almost 9 years and have never replaced a single light bulb

It took me a very long time and a lot of hassle to finally purchase this car, but it was definitely worth it in the end. The transmission shifts smoother than butter, the engine roars to life if you want it to, and it handles twisties like no other car out there. The lowered stance, de-badged grill, and JDM fogs make this Si one one of a kind. I get an average of 32 MPG, and the maintenance factor on this car is almost non-existent. terrible. However, if you put in a little money, this car
can be real nice and VERY fast with a little more
money. This is for sure a fun car to drive as long as

as everyone knows, the civic is one of the easiest cars to work on, great engine mods, interior and exterior mods. the price of purchase is also very inexpensive and the parts for this car are very affordable as well. it is a FWD car, but you can have so much fun driving this car if you just do it right. It's a great feeling after you mod up your civic and make heads turn! i would recommend this car if you are looking for a good used car and/or a hobby car!Jun 26, 2008

What I like about my car has a 127 hp sohc VTEC motor that loves
to rev to the redline. It has a brisk
acceleration when merging to the freeway or passing cars. It
has nice features for the EX trim level, but
does not have anti lock braking or alloy wheels. It gets pretty
good gas mileage (about 30 to 33 miles per
gallon average)
I don't like the slow response of the automatic transmission, it
doesn't mate pretty well with the sohc VTEC
motor. I would recommend the manual version, of course. It
has too much body roll during cornering at
high speeds. It's got quirky styling on the exterior with bug eyed
headlights showing how strange it
looks.
Update: I still own this car since 2006 to present. It still runs
strong with 128,500 miles on it as of Nov 2, 2011. After all, it's
a Honda. The paint is still in good condition but has peeling
paint on the rear bumper from the previous minor rear end
accident. I had to get a set of 4 new tires last year as well.
Power door locks, sunroof, lights, etc all work except the driver
side power window is stuck but the passenger side works fine.
The rear spoiler has been removed due to damage done to it,

From the electron blue pearl to the reliable and gorgeous b16a2 there isn't much to complain about with this ek. Torque wasn't there, but what do you expect with a 1.6l high revving engine. The braking in it was spot on in comparison to the drums used on other civics at the time. Handling was okay, nothing to jump around about though. But what really caught me was when you hit 5600 rpms that beatiful crossover into vtec. Overall no complaints can be had from me about this car. The suspension can be beefed simply and it handles like a dream and you can do a few things to make it get out of its own way for a decent price. Jan 10, 2008

2000 Honda Civic head gasket problem?
I have recently been having overheating problems on my 2000 Honda Civic and I replaced the thermostat because it was getting stuck closed. After fixing that about a month ago, my car was functioning good but then I had somthing blow up under my hood and coolent was leaking out of the side of my block and had a misfire on 2 cylinders. I just took the head off of my car and need to replace the head gasket, I’m just not sure what I should do next, should I bring my head to a machine shop? Or just throw a new gasket on it and put new head bolts in? Also included is a picture of my valves and was just wondering why they were so white.

My head lights won’t turn on
After my car was stolen I am not able to get the headlights to turn on. I’ve checked all the fuses and opened and cleaned the blinker switch. My blinkers work though. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance
