Honda offers certified pre-owned vehicles across three programs: HondaTrue Used, HondaTrue Certified, and HondaTrue Certified EV. The automaker authorizes its franchise dealers to inspect and certify used vehicles for sale under these guidelines.
Honda vehicles must be from within the last ten model years to be eligible for the HondaTrue Used program. The HondaTrue Certified program has stricter criteria, requiring that the vehicle be from within the previous six model years and have fewer than 80,000 miles since its original in-service date. The HondaTrue Certified EV program requires that the vehicle be no more than two model years old and have fewer than 80,000 miles.
HondaTrue Certified vehicles undergo a 182-point inspection, HondaTrue Certified EV vehicles undergo a 167-point inspection, and HondaTrue Used vehicles undergo a 112-point inspection.
Warranties
Honda offers a warranty on every CPO vehicle it sells, with coverage levels that vary by program.
HondaTrue Used vehicles include:
- A 6-month/10,000-mile powertrain warranty
- A 6-month/10,000-mile non-powertrain warranty
HondaTrue Certified vehicles include:
- A seven-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty
- Two additional years or up to 100,000 miles of non-powertrain coverage
HondaTrue Certified EV vehicles include:
- An eight-year/100,000-mile high-voltage battery warranty
- A two-year/86,000-mile limited warranty
Perks
Complimentary Service HondaTrue Certified vehicles come with two complimentary oil changes within one year or 12,000 miles. HondaTrue Used vehicles include one complimentary oil change within the first year of ownership. HondaTrue Certified EV vehicles include four complimentary tire rotations and four pairs of windshield wipers within 2 years/24,000 miles, plus one electric drive unit fluid change.
Roadside Assistance HondaTrue Certified and HondaTrue Used vehicles are offered with one year or 12,000 miles of roadside assistance, beginning at the expiration of the new-vehicle limited warranty or, if that warranty has already expired, the date the customer takes delivery of the vehicle. HondaTrue Certified EV vehicles include enhanced roadside assistance covering emergency towing and flatbed towing to the nearest charging station, trip-interruption expense reimbursement, flat-tire changes, lockout assistance, and winch services. Roadside assistance across all programs includes:
- Emergency towing
- Flat-tire changes
- Battery jump-starts
- Emergency fuel delivery
- Lockout assistance
Honda also offers trip interruption expense reimbursement and a concierge service across its CPO programs.
Exchange Policy
Honda offers a three-day exchange policy on HondaTrue Used, HondaTrue Certified, and HondaTrue Certified EV vehicles. Shoppers can exchange their certified Honda within three days for another vehicle in the dealership's inventory, provided the original vehicle is in the same condition as when purchased and has not travelled more than 300 miles.
