GMC certified pre-owned vehicles are covered under the GM Certified Pre-Owned program, which also includes Buick and Chevrolet. The automaker authorizes its franchise dealers to inspect and certify used vehicles for sale under these guidelines.
To qualify for GM Certified Pre-Owned status, a GMC must be less than six model years old, have fewer than 75,000 miles on the odometer, have a clean title, and pass a 172-point vehicle inspection and reconditioning process. All safety recalls must be resolved before a vehicle can be listed or sold. GM Certified Pre-Owned GMC vehicles undergo a 172-point inspection.
Warranties
GM offers two factory-backed warranties on every certified pre-owned GMC.
Powertrain Limited Warranty
- A 6-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, from the original in-service date
- $0 deductible and fully transferable
Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty
- A 12-month/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty
- $0 deductible and fully transferable
- Does not cover tires, damage from misuse or neglect, collision damage, or modifications

Roadside Assistance
Every GM Certified Pre-Owned GMC comes with 24-hour roadside assistance provided by Allstate, for the duration of the powertrain limited warranty — 6 years or 100,000 miles from the original new-vehicle delivery date, whichever comes first. Coverage includes:
- Emergency towing
- Flat-tire service
- Fuel delivery
- Battery jump-starts
- Lockout assistance
Scheduled Maintenance
GM Certified includes two scheduled maintenance visits within 2 years or 24,000 miles of vehicle delivery, whichever comes first. Each visit covers an oil and filter change, tire rotation, and multi-point inspection. Remaining maintenance visits transfer to a new owner if the vehicle is sold within that period.
Courtesy Transportation
If your certified GMC requires warranty repairs, GM will provide alternate transportation or reimburse transportation costs for the duration of your warranty coverage period.
Trial Subscriptions
Certified pre-owned GMCs come with a 3-month trial subscription to OnStar and a 3-month SiriusXM All-Access package trial. OnStar includes automatic crash response, emergency services, roadside assistance, and remote vehicle access from a mobile phone. Available OnStar services vary by model year.
Exchange Policy
GM offers a 3-day/150-mile exchange policy on certified pre-owned GMC vehicles. Buyers can exchange their vehicle for a different one within three days or 150 miles of purchase, with any difference in price accounted for at the time of exchange.
